AgentFX turns Claude Code, Codex or any MCP agent into a motion designer. The agent writes a short script; AgentFX renders it natively, on CPU or GPU: fluid ink, physics, shatter, slit-scan, glitch, infinite zoom and beat-synced visuals. No browser capture, no generated guesswork.
One prompt to an agent, one script, one render. Every frame below was drawn by AgentFX. The score is ours too, played on open-source instruments.
Score: piano samples from the Salamander Grand Piano by Alexander Holm, licensed CC BY 3.0. All other instruments are open-source synths or public-domain (CC0) samples.
What browser renderers can't do
Effects that need an engine, not a web page.
Remotion and HyperFrames render web pages: every frame is a screenshot of headless Chrome. That is fine for layouts and text. Simulations, particles and time effects need state across frames and a renderer that owns every pixel; in a browser you assemble them from libraries and capture the page again and again. AgentFX has them built in, deterministic and seeded, one line of script each.
Shutter motion blur sampled inside the renderer: 32 sub-frame renders per frame across a 360 degree shutter, so the blur follows the real path of the move.
Bursts and confetti with gravity and lifetimes. Seeded, so every render is the same, frame for frame.
How it works
Describe it. The agent writes it. AgentFX renders it.
Describe the film
Tell your agent what you want: "a 6 second ink reveal of our logo, cut on the beat, 16:9 and 9:16". In director mode the agent first agrees look, beats and a storyboard with you.
The agent writes a script
Reel Script is a compact text format made for language models: one line per element or event, effects as plain verbs, timing on seconds, words or beats.
AgentFX checks and renders
Lint catches overflow, dead air and static endings before rendering. Stills and contact sheets let the agent see its own film. Then one command renders every format.

Hardware rendering
A native renderer. CPU first, GPU when you have one.
AgentFX is written in Rust and does not run a browser in the render path. It redraws only what changed in each frame, runs heavy effects as GPU compute shaders and hands frames straight to hardware encoders.
Fluid, blur, glow and looks run as Vulkan compute shaders through wgpu. In our tests a 2016 GTX 1050 Ti renders effect-heavy shots 2 to 3 times faster than the CPU path.
Hardware encoding
x264 on any CPU, NVENC on NVIDIA and VAAPI on Intel and AMD.
Change-first
Only the parts of a frame that changed are redrawn. Static backgrounds cost nothing after the first frame.
Deterministic
Same script, same frames, on every machine. Agents can re-render, compare and test their own output.
Looks, type and sound
Every look your agent can name.
Named looks and audio-driven motion, each a property on any layer and every value animatable.
Agents can't watch video. AgentFX lets them check it anyway.
Lint with taste
Errors for text overflow, out-of-frame boxes and timing overruns, plus taste rules: dead air, tiny motion, static endings, cold opens, flash safety. Every message has a fix hint.
Stills and contact sheets
Any moment as a PNG, any film as a sheet of frames or event moments, so a vision model can review the cut before a full render.
MCP server and skill
Lint, preview frames and render from Claude Code, Codex or any MCP client. A director skill runs brief, style frames, beats and storyboard before the first render.
One script, every format
16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 from the same source, with layout by constraints and safe-area checks per format.
No true 3D. Depth comes from 2.5D cameras, extruded stacks and parallax. Real 3D layers are on the roadmap.
No photoreal generation. AgentFX draws design, type and effects. For filmed or generated footage, use a camera or a video model and bring the clip in as a layer.
No timeline editor. The interface is the script and your agent. A browser desk for picks and notes exists for director mode.
Linux first. macOS and Windows builds come later in early access.
FAQ
Questions about AgentFX
What is AgentFX?
AgentFX is a motion graphics and video effects engine built for AI agents. An agent such as Claude Code or Codex writes a short script, and AgentFX renders it to video on your own machine with native effects: fluid and ink, physics, shatter, slit-scan, glitch, VHS, halftone, infinite zoom, audio-reactive visuals, kinetic typography and captions.
Is AgentFX a generative AI video model?
No. AgentFX does not guess pixels. The agent writes a script, and the renderer draws exactly what the script says: your copy, your brand colours, your timing. The same script always renders the same frames, so results are repeatable and can be checked and diffed.
Which AI agents work with AgentFX?
Any agent that can write a text file and run a command: Claude Code, Codex and other coding agents. AgentFX also ships an MCP server and an agent skill, so MCP clients can lint, preview frames and render directly.
Does AgentFX need a GPU?
No. AgentFX renders on an ordinary CPU. A GPU is optional: on Linux, effect-heavy shots run as Vulkan compute shaders, and hardware encoders (NVENC, VAAPI) speed up the final encode.
How is AgentFX different from Remotion or HyperFrames?
Remotion and HyperFrames render web pages: every frame goes through headless Chrome and is captured. AgentFX has its own native renderer with effects built in, such as fluid simulation, rigid-body physics, shatter, slit-scan and shutter-true motion blur, and runs without a browser. See the full comparison.
Can AgentFX replace After Effects?
For motion graphics that an agent should produce, often yes: layers, keyframes, eases, precomps, a camera, looks, text animators and audio-driven animation are all there. It is not a full After Effects replacement yet: there is no true 3D and no timeline editor. Details on the After Effects alternative page.
Which formats does AgentFX export?
MP4 (H.264) in any size and frame rate, several aspect ratios such as 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 from one script, video with alpha (ProRes 4444, VP9), GIF and animated WebP, plus still frames and contact sheets.
Can I self-host AgentFX?
Yes. AgentFX runs on your own machines, so scripts, brand assets and renders stay with you. It runs on Linux today.
How much does AgentFX cost?
AgentFX is in early access. Pricing is not final; early access teams get it free while we work with them. Request access.
